Posted on July 7, 2018July 9, 2018 by sergiTRed USA Vise 10 Pics of a red USA made vise I got from an estate sale, i think the jaws are 10″ wide, it was rusted so i cleaned it up a bit The vise was rusted all over The jaws only contact on one side but mostly work, the main shaft screw was more of an issue and hard to turn It had to be disassembled to check the main screw out Vise nut in the center Bottom swivel plate Main acme screw, box thread Vise nut before cleaning Vise nut Main body Closeup of where the vise nut sits, which was attached by a single pin and a dovetail cut into the vise body Moving jaw shaft Main lead screw Vise nut cleaned up Vise nut UsaViseRed11in17 Assembled, I inserted some shims to make the jaw sliding more parallel and smoother Had to replace the pin holding the vise nut in position, i shimmed the vise nut on the dovetail side and also used a brass rod that barely fit to replace the pin I cut the pin to length and hammered in, way better jaw sliding
